Suggested Itineraries

These itineraries are suggestions to help make your trip more enjoyable.  In addition to the suggestions below there is Kolob Canyons which is 20 minutes south of Cedar City.  It is a 5 mile drive up the canyon that ends at the northern end of Zion National Park.  A whole different view than what you will see from Zion. 

So, here are some ideas for your trip.   There is catering available for dinner if you would like to relax and eat at the Inn after a long day of hiking.    

Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks (Two Night Stay)

Day One:

Arrive at the Anniversary House and enjoy a delightful dinner at one of the fine restaurants in Cedar City

Day Two:

Head out after a gourmet breakfast to Bryce Canyon National Park, located 48 miles north east of Cedar City (travel time 1 ½ hours).  Enjoy the breathtaking views and hikes of the park.  There are restaurants located at the park or you can visit Parowan for great Mexican or Chinese food on the way back. 

Enjoy a relaxing evening on the deck around the fireplace or attend the theater (starts at 8pm) located 1 block from the Anniversary House Bed and Breakfast. 

Day Three:

Enjoy another yummy Anniversary House breakfast and then travel south for 1hr 5 min (58 miles) to Zion National Park.  Spectacular hikes and scenery.  You will park in Springdale and take the shuttle to the park then board a shuttle for the loop to the hikes.  You never have to leave the shuttle to see the spectacular views of Zion National Park.  There are things to do for all levels of activity.    The restaurants are plentiful in Springdale with many cuisines, or drive back to Cedar City and experience the quiet, small town atmosphere we have to offer.  A walk down Main Street is perfect in the evening. Again, you can enjoy the deck at the Inn and just relax.

 

Bryce Canyon, Zion National Parks and Cedar Breaks National Monument (Three Night Stay)

Day Four:

Breakfast as usual at the Anniversary House and then a short trip up the mountain 45 minutes (25 miles). There are many overlooks and trails to explore, then a short trip over to the Brianhead Ski Resort.  It is open year round and has restaurants to enjoy or, you can continue on down the mountain to Parowan enjoying the scenic views of the mountain. Then it is a short 20 minute drive to Cedar City and the Anniversary House. 

Kanarra Falls

Located 30 minutes (15 miles) south of the Anniversary House Bed and Breakfast, the Kanarra Creek trail will take you to a spectacular slot canyon with two 15-foot high waterfalls.  This moderate to challenging trail is about 3.8 miles roundtrip and takes between 2-4 hours.  Return back to the Inn to unwind and warm your feet!

Bryce Canyon National Park

Located 1 ½ hrs (49 miles) from the Anniversary House Bed and Breakfast, is a wonderful day trip.  Lunch at Rubys, hikes, horseback riding, scenic loop, spectacular scenery! Then back to the inn for relaxing beverages on the deck overseeing the gardens.

Zion National Park

Located 1 hour (46 miles) from the Anniversary House Bed and Breakfast is a warmer adventure with breathtaking scenery and lots of shopping right outside the park in Springdale. Take a picnic lunch or visit one of the many delicious restaurants in Springdale. During the summer, a shuttle with take you into the park.  Paid parking is located in Springdale at designated lots with frequent shuttle pickup. Offseason, parking is plentiful inside the park and the crowds are far less. When you have taken in all the beauty of the park and surrounding area, a short drive will bring you back to the inn for a relaxing evening in Cedar City.

Cedar Breaks National Monument

Located 30 minutes from the Anniversary House Bed and Breakfast, you raise up 4,000 feet above Cedar City.  The outlooks, wildflowers, trails, and history will leave you speechless.  Brian Head ski resort is a short trip over the mountain with shops, restaurants, and a quaint little village.  After that, you can continue down the scenic byway and discover Parowan, a quiet community with some great casual restaurants.

Parowan Gap

Located 25 minutes (20 miles) from the Anniversary House Bed and Breakfast, you will step back into ancient times, discovering the petroglyphs – astounding images and history!  If you get lucky, you will see the family of Condors that reside in the cliffs above the Gap.  A few miles down the road toward Parowan the dinosaur tracks are a hidden treasure for the adventuresome that are willing to seek them out.  If you continue on SR 130, it will take you through some farm country and back onto I-15, making a loop back to Cedar City.  This is a great ½ day journey if you have evening plans at the theater. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the petroglyphs.
